Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral?
You will need a referral from your GP or a medical consultant to access services as per BMA guidelines.
What can I expect from my initial consultation?
All initial consultations are performed face to face at your chosen location. An assessment of your medical history and clinical examination will take place. Any further investigations and management plan will be discussed with you and any further follow-up arranged.
What happens if I am late for an appointment?
If you are running late, please contact the telephone number at the location of your appointment as soon as possible and we can advise on the best course of action. If you are late for your appointment we will try to accommodate where possible. Please be aware however that the appointment will finish at the scheduled end time. If you are more than 15 minutes late after your scheduled time, unfortunately the appointment will be cancelled.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please inform us and the location of your appointment should you wish to cancel your appointment as soon as possible. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the appointment start time, or you fail to attend the consultation, the full cost of the appointment will be incurred.
When do I need to pay for my appointment and how?
Self-pay patients: Consultation fees must be paid in advance of the consultation. Fees can be paid via bank transfer or credit/debit card. Fees will be detailed on your invoice issued to you electronically by Alfasync Ltd via email and/or SMS text message using the contact details you provide us. Please quote your full name as the reference for bank transfers.
Insured patients: Consultations fees will be settled with your insurer after your appointment. Please note you are responsible for any fees NOT covered by your insurer and these will be invoiced seperately.
When will I receive a letter from my consultation?
A medical assessment letter will be available within 10 working days.
Who else will receive a copy of my medical assessment letter?
Unless you specifically ask us not to, we will routinely write to your GP and to any other doctors involved in the care of the condition(s) for which you consulted us. The information will be sent either via Royal Mail in a sealed envelope marked ‘confidential’, or to and from secure email services (encrypted or via secure end-to-end encrypted GDPR-approved services such as nhs.net).
Can I be accompanied to my appointment?
We want you to feel as comfortable as possible at your consultation. If you wish to have a relative or a friend with you, please do bring them along.
